Religious Education

“Quite early on, the name catechesis was given to the totality of the Church’s efforts to make disciples, to help men believe that Jesus is the Son of God so that believing they might have life in his name, and to educate and instruct them in this life, thus buildings up the body of Christ.” (CCC, 4)

Elementary/Middle School PSR

The St. Francis of Assisi Parish School of Religion (CCD) is for children who do not attend Catholic schools. The kindergarten through eighth grade meet weekly following the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays in the Parish Center from late August through early May. Registration is required and the calendar and registration forms can be found below.

First Reconciliation/ First Eucharist

Preparation for first Reconciliation and Eucharist begins in the fall of second grade for students attending both Catholic and non-Catholic schools. Archdiocesan policy requires that one year prior of religious education or Catholic school is needed before preparation for the sacraments (beginning in first grade for Eucharist). To register, please use the CCD registration form above. Preparation dates are included on the CCD schedule.

High School PSR / Confirmation

For students in high school, Confirmation preparation is a two-year program for those who do not attend Catholic school beginning in ninth grade with Confirmation taking place in the junior year. Students in Catholic school join the program in March of their sophomore year. For more information about this program, please see Confirmation.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

A Children’s Liturgy of the Word celebration takes place weekly during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass in the Parish Center chapel from August through May. This program is open to children ages 3-7 and we are always in need of parent leaders and helpers!

Vacation Bible School

Each summer St. Francis offers a Vacation Bible School for all children entering kindergarten – fifth grader that includes bible stories, crafts, games, music, food and fun! This year the camp will take place Monday, July 31 – Friday, August 4 from 8:30am-12:30pm daily.
